RSL NSW Congress 2026

The RSL NSW Congress 2026 brought members from across NSW together in Tamworth to connect, share ideas and help shape the future of the League as it approaches its 110th year.

A highlight for Five Dock RSL Sub-Branch was winning the Western Metropolitan Region Sport and Recreation Participation Competition for the third year in a row.

This fantastic achievement reflects the enthusiasm of our members and our commitment to encouraging mateship, participation and connection through sport and recreation.

Our Five Dock team also had the honour of being photographed with the Governor, providing a special memory from Congress.

Beyond the award, Congress gave our team the opportunity to meet members from other Sub-Branches, exchange ideas and hear different approaches to supporting and engaging veterans. The team returned to Five Dock with new connections, fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm for building participation, strengthening mateship and creating activities that keep veterans and their families connected with the wider community.

Congress reinforced the important role local Sub-Branches play in supporting veterans and their families.

At a glance:

  • RSL NSW announced a $3.3 million donation to RSL LifeCare Veteran Services to support wellbeing support for veterans and their families.

  • Incoming President Mick Bainbridge and CEO Giles Hurst were officially welcomed alongside three new members of the RSL NSW Board.

  • Delegates enjoyed an evening of camaraderie and physical activity at a sport and recreation event.

  • “When the League works together, we are a powerful force for good and an important part of the fabric of the nation,” RSL Australia CEO Phil Winter told attendees.

Delegates from RSL sub-Branches across NSW gathered in Newcastle this week for the RSL NSW State State Congress and AGM.

Robert Ridge led a small team from Five Dock RSL Sub-branch to represent us at this years RSL NSW Congress in Newcastle. David Clarke and Tony Harman supported Robert throughout the three days.

It was great to see Five Dock RSL winning the Sport and Recreation Participation Competition in our region. Since implementing the Sport and Rec program into the branch, the benefits to the health and well being of our members and families has been a credit to the program. A shout out to Pinnacle Spine and Sports who have stuck with us through the journey. We look forward to bigger and better things next year.
